CHAN HOL

LOCATION:

DIFFICULTY: MODERATE. Buoyancy control and trim are very important in this system. Areas are prone to silt-ups as well as a few restrictions. Jumps can be in awkward places requiring attention to detail in the environment to 1) find the jump and 2) not silt it up as you do it. Beautiful cave with pottery on a shelf near the entrance. There is the most subtle of haloclines as you get further back into the cave.

WC FACILITIES: Yes, however, be careful that the guardian geese don’t get you cornered! 🙂

FOOD SOLD HERE: No.

ACTIVITIES FOR NON-DIVERS: No, unless you’re weird and enjoy geese chasing you and falling in random holes.

CURRENT ENTRY FEE: $350 Pesos

SUMMARY: This is a cute little white cave with several restrictions and is somewhat easy to silt up if you’re not careful. Honestly, this is better in a team of no more than two. There are quite a few short jumps off the main line. These jumps are oftentimes in places where the is a lot of silt so again, watch your finning technique, be slow, and enjoy.

DIVE ENTRY: There are two ways down… big, steep rock steps or on the side if you want to slide down the hill. Whichever you find more fun. Then you get down to this little pool with a wooden stairway. It’s not big at all.. no more than two divers in that space at a time. You look and you think there is nowhere to go… then you pop your head under the water and you see the secret…
